WIND, WIND, WIND!
Everybody in Cape Town, and especially us paddlers, has been complaining about how windy the last summer has been. So we at the shop took it upon ourselves to find out if it's just our imagination or not. The good people at IMT in Simon's Town have a weather station at Roman Rock Lighthouse and kindly supplied me with the below wind data.
And the answer is...
Figures are in kilometres per hour and is the average speed of the wind for the entire month in question. Clearly it has been windier, but oddly not by as great a margin as I personally expected it to be. Interesting how the previous summer was quite windy as well.

The most striking result is the number of days in the month where the average wind speed was above 50 and 60kmh. This is where you can see we were all justified in thinking it was a windy season.
